Comedian Jon Richardson has announced that he is leaving the popular British comedy show "8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown". The show, which has been on the air since 2012, has become a fan favorite and Richardson’s departure has left many viewers feeling sad.

Jon Richardson Leaves "8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown"

On Tuesday, Richardson took to Twitter to announce his departure, saying "It’s been an absolute pleasure to be a part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown over the last eight years. It’s been a huge part of my life and I’m so grateful to have been able to work with such a talented group of people."

The show, which airs on Channel 4 in the UK, is a hybrid of the popular game show "Countdown" and the panel show "8 Out of 10 Cats". It features Richardson and other comedians competing against each other in a series of word and number games.

    Fans Express Sadness at Departure

Fans of the show have taken to social media to express their sadness at Richardson’s departure. Many have expressed their gratitude for his contribution to the show, while others have expressed their sadness at not being able to watch him on the show anymore.

Richardson’s fellow comedians have also expressed their sadness, with Jimmy Carr tweeting "I’m going to miss you on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. You’ve been an incredible team captain and an even better friend."

Jon Richardson’s departure from "8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown" has left many viewers feeling sad and nostalgic. While his contribution to the show will surely be missed, fans can take comfort in the fact that Richardson’s comedic talents will still be seen elsewhere.

In a sad farewell for British television, it has been reported that Jon Richardson has resigned from the immensely popular Channel 4 show, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

The show has proved to be a major hit ever since its launch in 2012, providing a hilarious combination of classic countdowns puzzles, innuendo and celebrity guests. Richardson, who is best known in the UK for his appearance on BBC2’s Mock the Week, was a popular and permanent fixture on the show since it began, appearing alongside host Jimmy Carr. During his time on the show, Richardson held his own against such talented countdowns adversaries as Sean Lock, Joe Wilkinson and David O’Doherty.

The show’s devoted audience will be most disappointed to hear that Richardson has left the show with his last episode airing on 4th May 2019. ‘This was a far harder decision for me than it may appear onscreen,’ he commented in a statement. ‘I’ve had an incredible seven and a half years on the show, working with some of the funniest, most talented people in television. However, after being part of such a fantastic show for such a long time I feel this is the right move for me to make, and I wish everyone connected with 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Channel 4 and the game show world only the best.’

It is not yet known who his replacement will be, however whatever their identity, they should prepare to be unfavourably compared to Richardson’s brilliance on the show. His absence will be a great loss for fans of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and hopefully he will surface in other funnier endeavours.
