Inna Yashchyshyn is a Ukrainian-born artist, singer, songwriter, percussionist and music producer who has made a lasting impression in the global multi-media scene. Her work has continually pushed the envelope, from creating multimedia works to incorporating live performance. A force to be reckoned with, Inna continues to bring her unique and innovative style to the world.
Inna’s journey began with her passion for music. Born in Ukraine, she obtained her Master’s degree in Musicology from the Donetsk National University and a certificate of award from the Ukrainian National Academy of Music, pursuing her studies to the postgraduate level in “Musicology and Music Education.” Her studies only multiplied her natural talent for songwriting, percussion, and producing. After coming to Canada in 2006, she maintained her involvement in music, playing with various local ensembles, performing at concerts and recording albums.
But it wasn’t until 2008 that Inna truly began to shine. Her debut album, “Urban Reflections,” served as an exploration of different cultures, ideas, and sounds. It combined a wide range of genres, from folk and electronica, to jazz and blues. The album earned her numerous accolades, including a Juno Award nomination and a number one spot in the Canadian Groove Radio Chart.
Inna’s subsequent albums, “Metamorphosis” and “Meditative Path,” further showcased her unique talent for blending elements of music, theatre, visual art and multimedia into unique compositions. Over the years, she has released a host of music and multi-media projects, collaborating with the likes of Chantal Kreviasuk, Bonnie Doherty, and others.
