Life and Career of Prof. Priv. Doz. Dr. Mathias Glehr
Prof. Priv. Doz. Dr. Mathias Glehr was born in Vienna, Austria in 1958. He studied medicine at the Medical University of Vienna, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1985. After completing his studies, he continued his research in the field of oncology.
In 1989, he was appointed as an Associate Professor at the Medical University of Vienna. In 1997, he was promoted to Professor and continued his research in oncology and immunology. During his tenure at the university, he also held teaching positions in the departments of pathology, immunology, and infectious diseases.
In 2001, he was appointed as the Director of the Institute for Infectious Diseases and Immunology at the Medical University of Vienna. In this position, he conducted clinical trials and developed treatments for infectious diseases. He also served as the Chair of the International Immunology Council from 2002 to 2005.
In 2008, he was appointed as a Professor of Medicine at the University of Vienna. In this position, he continued his research in infectious diseases and immunology. He also held a number of teaching positions at the university.

Dr. Glehr is a former dean at several universities in Europe, as well as a former Vice Chancellor at the Technische Universität München, where he was responsible for many university processes and innovations. He was instrumental in the design of new faculties and served as Arbitrator for Academic Coordination and Quality Assurance.
Since 2016, Dr. Glehr has been an Advisor to the German Rectors’ Conference. He has counseled universities across Europe and the world on their academic pursuits and curricula, participating in and leading several committees on quality assurance over the years.
Dr. Glehr has also been actively involved in international research and education, aiding in the reorganisation of universities in various countries internationally, as well as being an expert in the Evaluation of European Research Grants, especially in the field of higher education.
Dr. Glehr has taught at a variety of institutions both at home and abroad, and his esteemed career paths have been recognised through several professional awards and prestigous memberships.
