The Benefits of Managing Electricity Bills with Online Payments

Since the onset of internet-enabled smartphones, gone are the days when people actually used to plan a physical visit to pay their electricity bills. Standing in long queues and waiting for your turn is quite an old-school way. With your smartphone, online electricity bill payment is as easy as ordering groceries nowadays.

Look around you. With time, almost everything around us transformed from traditional to digital. One day, you ask a restaurant whether they deliver food; the next, you are ordering your favourite dessert from the same restaurant with just a few taps on your smartphone. This is what technology has offered us.

In my personal experience, when it comes to bill payments, I’ve been using the Bajaj Finserv app for my mobile as well as electricity bill payments. Now, don’t consider this a promotional write-up, as I’m just sharing my personal experience for your better understanding. (Readers are free to make their own choice.)

What are the benefits of online bill payment?

1. It saves a lot of time

When you opt for digital payment, there’s no need to go anywhere. Once you set it up on your smartphone, you are just a few seconds away from paying. So instead of physically travelling to the concerned site, you just need to pick up your smartphone within your comfort zone.

2. Avoid hassle

When you opt for online payments, there’s no need to get out of your comfort zone and go to the site physically. Digital payments have ensured that people don’t waste their energy, money, time or fuel to travel. So, with just a few taps on your smartphone, you are good to go.

3. Rewards

Exciting rewards, such as cashback, coupon codes, etc., are offered every time an online bill payment is made. But it also depends on which application you use. In my case, like I use the Bajaj Finserv app, there are some other rewards almost after every transaction.

4. Secure payments

Another prime benefit of online payment is safety and security. Of course, using a genuine application is always better, and it is very important to avoid clicking on unnecessary links.

How to pay your electricity bill online?

    1. Download the ‘Bajaj Finserv: UPI, Pay, Loans’ application from the Play Store or App Store.
    2. You’ll see the ‘Bills & Recharges’ section on the app’s homepage.
    3. Click on Electricity
    4. Select your provider
    5. Enter the relevant account number
    6. You are good to go.

The only person in my family who looks after all kinds of bills is my father. He likes to plan his day whenever he goes to pay the bill of electricity of our house. However, when I showed him how an online electricity bill payment is made with just a few taps on his smartphone, he was disappointed at first because this has put a halt to his trips. But, he was surprised to witness how things have evolved. So now, instead of going on a day trip to deposit bills, he just sits back and enjoys his retirement life.
