The horror genre is full of haunted houses, and House Movies are no exception. The thrills of ghostly apparitions and spooks never go out of style. The genre is vast and diverse, spanning many different genres. This list of top haunted house movies is sure to spook you. Here are some of the most terrifying films of all time. They are not for the faint of heart, but they certainly leave you with goosebumps.

The Innocents: This spooky adaptation of Henrey James’ The Turn of the Screw is a beautifully crafted horror film about a governess who believes that a haunted estate is her own home. She believes two young children are the targets of a ghostly presence. The film has a subtext of repression and a haunted house set that will have you terrified and frightened.

House: Not to be confused with the 1977 Japanese film, this lighthearted spooky movie is full of twists and turns. House focuses more on entertainment than on the story, and a group of girls travels to their aunt’s house for the summer, but they quickly discover the place isn’t what it seems. As a result, the girls find themselves in the middle of a literal exorcism.

Finding Forrester: This found-footage horror movie launched a franchise. John Russell and his daughter, Katie, rent an old Victorian mansion, and soon find themselves inhabited by a sinister entity. The film’s slow burn unravels the mystery of an unhappy entity and provides a number of frightening moments. It’s a classic haunted house film and is a must-see for horror fans. It is also worth mentioning that the film also produced sequels – Finding Forrester and House – both of which are excellent films.
